Abstract Under the guidance of learning progressions and based on the construction of knowledge levels and cognitive levels, taking the teaching design of metallic aluminum at three different learning sections in senior one as an example, this paper expounded the possibility of dominant construction and integrative design of scientific thinking in the learning of element compounds, attached great importance to scientific thinking levels in chemistry learning so that the essential connotation of learning progression could be realized and scientific literacy could be cultivated.
