Abstract  The teaching of basic skills of pharmacy by problem-based learning (PBL) method was explored preliminarily base on the objective condition and teaching characteristics of colleges in west minority nationality areas. As a result, the operating level of basic skills and the ability to discover, analyze and solve problems of experiment group (PBL method) were higher significantly than the control group (traditional teaching method). The PBL method is significant for pharmacy undergraduates in west minority nationality areas to improve innovative ability, and provides a useful reference for cultivating innovation ability of pharmacy undergraduates in other areas.
