Abstract Teachers can reduce the difficulty of learning abstract knowledge and improve students' visual literacy by using appropriate classroom visual representations. According to the existing literature, the visual representation scale of chemistry class was constructed to analyze the characteristics of teachers' visual representation in chemistry class. On this basis, this study uses the grounded theory to summarize the utility features of visual representation content in the form of open coding so that learners can more effectively interpret the contents of visual representations. In this process, some problems existing in current classroom teaching are also found.
