Abstract In order to broaden students' chemical vision and enrich their practical ability, this paper introduces the significance and process of using “thematic review” in the review of organic content of chemistry in senior high school, taking the review of “hydrocarbon derivatives” as an example. It takes “knowing ethyl cinnamate” as a real situation to carry out thematic review, and guides students to analyze the relevant maps as well as scientific research results, infer and solve the real comprehensive problems through three links: “structure inquiry, property inquiry, and synthesis inquiry”. As a result, it can build the cognitive model of organic structure determination, relationship between property and structure, and reverse synthesis, then further form the core concept of chemistry.
