Abstract Physical quantities in the equation of components were demonstrated and examples were given to illustrate the calculation of the number of components. The effects of chemical equilibrium and complete reaction to components in a system were also discussed, including that chemical equilibrium would not affect the number of components if the products of a chemical equilibrium were same phase, and complete reactions could be treated as chemical equilibrium without consuming multiple reactants. Finally, the steps for determining the number of components of a system were summarized.
