Abstract This paper described a teaching method of introduing the frontier knowledge that could stimulate students' interests in learning and improve teaching effectiveness of basic chemistry. The examples of frontrer knowledge related to basic chemistry were given. The teaching principles of introducing frontier knowledge into basic chemistry teaching were proposed.
