Abstract Atomic structure is the foundation of chemistry and the teaching of atomic structure could directly affect the students' study of chemistry course. Based on teaching reflection and teaching experience, we found that the teaching method combining the history of finding atomic structure with the law of people's cognitive process and creative teaching design, not only could greatly improve the teaching effect, but also could develop students' ability of inquiry and innovation.
