LIU Qian-Shu
Chinese Journal of Chemical Education. 2016, 37 (21): 4-8. ;  doi: 10.13884/j.1003-3807hxjy.2016020002

Show Abstract ( 554 )

Chemical core literacy had triple implications of "chemical" literacy, "core" literacy and "human" literacy. Based on the concept analysis and hierarchy analysis, this paper proposed four-dimensional structure model of chemical core literacy. Among the four dimensions, "chemical basic concepts" was fundamental, "the process of chemistry" and "the applications of chemistry in life" were two activated dimensions while "the attitude towards chemistry" was the dynamic dimension. Chemical core literacy had laid the foundation for the development of academic chemistry literacy and life-oriented chemical literacy. Grasping the differences in the structure and the specific dimensions of the three kinds of chemical literacy could help to understand the connotation of chemical core literacy, and also help to grasp the teaching orientation of different modules in the high school chemistry curriculum.

In order to complete the task of teaching, teachers would ignore the development of students' higher order thinking. Although this could complete the teaching objectives timely, but the teaching effect would be greatly reduced, and more importantly, it would directly hinder the development of higher order ability, such as innovation, critical thinking, acquirement of tacit knowledge, self management, etc. Higher order thinking needed the support of higher order learning scaffold. This paper discussed that the application of "advance organizer scaffolding based on mind map" in different classes could help students to participate in complex cognitive activities, to establish higher order thinking model and enhance the meta-cognitive level.

Show Abstract ( 170 )

This paper designed 6 experiments to explore corrosion rates of metals at anode of electrolytic cell and negative electrode of primary cell using hand-held technology, and converted the metal corrosion rates to gas production rates when metal corroding, which further converted to the change of pressure in a closed system within a certain time. The key of these experiments was measuring the change of pressure by the pressure sensor. This paper got the pressure-time variation data and analyzed the reaction rates according to the slope of the curve. Moreover, this paper presented and analyzed the curves from the point of view of quadruple representation "macro-curve-micro-symbol" in order to help students to understand the experimental process. The conclusions were:(1) in the same electrolyte solution, the corrosion caused by the electrolytic cell was faster than the corrosion caused by the primary cell; (2) generally in the same electrolyte solution, for a certain range of concentration, the higher concentration of the electrolyte solution, the faster of corrosion.

There were obvious differences on the solubility data of ferrous sulfate in water in experimental chemistry of high school chemistry textbooks between People's Education Press and Jiangsu Phoenix Education Publishing. The solubility of seven water ferrous sulfate in water was determined by experiment in order to prove the correctness of the solubility data quoted in the textbooks. The results showed that the solubility data didn't tally with the form of expression in two sets of chemistry textbooks. The solubility data of ferrous sulfate should be revised when the chemistry textbooks are reprinted.
